The health care industry is the largest industry in the U.S. today.  Employment of medical and health services managers is expected to grow 16 percent to 2018, faster than the average for all occupations. The health care industry will continue to expand and diversify, requiring managers to help ensure smooth business operations and high quality care. Managers in all settings will be needed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of health care, while controlling costs. As insurance companies and Medicare demand higher levels of accountability, managers will also be needed to oversee increased federal regulatory requirements as required by law.

Employment will grow fast in offices of health practitioners. Many services previously provided in hospitals will continue to shift to these settings, especially as medical technologies improve. Demand in medical group practice management will grow as these practices become larger and more complex. Medical and health services managers will also be employed by a shared-service concept including companies that provide management services to hospitals and other organizations and to specific departments such as emergency, information management systems, managed care contract negotiations, and physician recruiting.

In the increasingly complex and efficiency driven health care field, health care managers play a vital role in the planning, coordination and delivery of services. Health care managers may be specialists with a clinical background or generalists in charge of a large system or facility. A bachelor's degree in health care management provides entry level benchmarking to positions at the departmental level or in small facilities.

While we attempt to forecast which new opportunities offer the most promise, our partners must also keep true to their mission of preparing their graduates to become strong leaders in this rapidly changing business environment.

To help meet the demand for qualified professionals in this expanding job sector, Education Strategy specifically designed a degree completion program that provides a real-world health care management curriculum for working adults.  This program has been designed by experts and leading practitioners.  It has also been benchmarked against national health care curriculum standards.

Offering a convenient, affordable, and accelerated degree completion program in Health Care Management is the emerging field to meet the needs of adult learners and extend the mission of colleges and universities.
