This past weekend ES attended and presented at the SACS COC Excellence
in Education Exposition. This offered us the opportunity to connect
with many current and previous partners along with establishing new
relationships for the future.
During our visit and my discussions with many college and university
senior executives, several themes became very evident. Below is a
brief synopsis:
-
Traditional enrollments were up this past fall, but is this sustainable and what about balanced enrollment portfolios?
- Almost every institution claims some form of adult programming, but
even the large programs question their marketing and lead generation
success.
- Many institutions have classroom based adult programs, however, a surprising number don't have programs online at all.
- Many institutions have experienced consulting relationships with third party suppliers and feel significantly "burnt" from the event due to lack of promises fulfilled and lack of good service combined with extremely long contract obligations (10 years).
- A strong interest in Heath Care Management abounds.
- Retention strategies are a must as many programs have large front doors and even larger back doors.
- Our ES luggage tag give-a-way flew off the shelf.
Overall, it was a great conference that we were proud to attend. It is clear that adult online education is key to a solid balanced enrollment strategy and that the mission of Education Strategy fits a significant need in the industry of higher education.
